Our Club is growing at such a rapid rate because our Community sees how successful our Colts’ Coaching Programme is, with many joining from the age of 5 as part of the ECB All Stars Cricket initiative.
This is incredibly exciting for us but means we have to overcome some funding issues as we seek to buy more equipment and replace our ageing Pavilion. Much of our money comes from subscriptions, charity events and specific sponsorships.
Prudent financial management over the years has allowed us to continue maintaining the outfield and provide ongoing maintenance to our Pavilion. But the time is right to reach out and ask for support which will enable us to replace the Pavilion with a modern, airy space that we can use for future fundraising and furthering our Community Outreach.
The Club is working towards a c£300,000 project for the Pavilion development. To date we have raised over £30,000 of which £4,000 has been spent on the architect fees. We will be seeking £100,000 of grants as ‘match funding’ for the first £100,000 of cash raised from donations, sponsorships and charity events from bodies like Sport England, Landfill Communities Fund, Heathrow Community Fund and RBWM. However we need to raise the initial £100,000 to enable us to apply.
Royal Ascot Cricket Club is seeking business partners to support some exciting initiatives
- Demolition and Erecting of a new light and airy clubhouse which will allow for multi-use
- Creating an additional pitch so we can use the ground for more Colts and Senior matches and run more coaching sessions and corporate hospitality games
- Sponsorship of various programmes to further Youth and Senior Cricket in the Community
We enjoy a unique location, within the perimeter of Royal Ascot Racecourse, nestled amidst a wide variety of flora and fauna protected as a designated wildlife heritage site. Her Majesty Queen Victoria gave permission in 1883 for the formation of a cricket club with the proviso that subscription fees had to be moderate to allow everyone to play. Throughout its history, the club has been indebted to the Ascot Authority for their continued cooperation and assistance. Over the years the club has toured to Jersey, Ireland and the Cotswolds and has played host to visiting sides from Australia,Italy. and just recently our Under 13s hosted a match against their Swiss counterparts.
Fantastic coaching and playing opportunities
We currently provide Coaching to seven local primary schools during the summer term with sponsorship from Chance to Shine and Maloneys Budgens of Ascot. Into our fourth year, we can see the difference our coaching is making too many year three and four children in terms of confidence, self belief and excitement for the game, plus encouraging more girls to take up the sport.
We focus on character and resilience in that we see losing just as important as winning. We encourage our players to look inwards as well as outwards when we have difficult matches in order to understand how we personally contribute to the team.
Our vision for expansion
Our commitment to bettering the community drives everything we do and we are grateful for the support we currently receive from the Ascot Authority, local businesses like Budgens and parents. Ascot Racecourse Community Fund is the Senior Team shirt sponsor for the 2017 season. In the last five years we’ve probably achieved more than in the previous twenty in terms of our support for girls and colt cricket. This is due to an awareness in the Community that cricket is a fantastic sport for all.
We also envisage launching a girl’s team in the future and reaching out to the various retirement communities to encourage them to come and join us. Having a new Pavilion is a priority. We commissioned architects to design a Pavilion for the next generation of cricketers and they have come up with a versatile space that will allow us to contribute much more to the Community, with a facility which will be available for hire in the heart of a beautiful heath.
